Somerset Council Recycling Collections update: Friday 9 June 2023

Collections update: Friday 9 June 2023

Crews have made progress in catching up collections in the second part of this week and will also be working tomorrow (Saturday 10 June).

Recycling collections that were missed on Saturday 3 June and suspended for a week are being prioritised for collection today. These are in parts of Mendip and South Somerset: in and around Bruton and surrounding villages, villages near Frome, Milborne Port, Chilcompton, villages near Shepton Mallet, villages near Wells, Wincanton.

Some recycling collections due today will be delayed until tomorrow (Saturday 10 June). These are in parts of Evercreech, and villages around Frome and Shepton Mallet including Babington, Charlton, Coleford, Holcombe, Kilmersdon, Stoke St Michael, Stratton on the Fosse, Batcombe, Chesterblade, Cranmore, Doulting, Stony Stratton, Westcombe.

A small number of recycling collections due today in parts of Ilminster will be delayed until Monday (12 June). Affected roads include Foundry Close, Forge Close, Home Farm Park, Home Farm Way, New Road, Station Road, Summerlands Park Avenue, Summerlands Park Drive, Wadham Close, West Street, Whaites Drive, Winterhay Lane.

We apologise for the disruption this week and have been working closely with Suez to get things back on track. There has been no single cause behind the delays, but a combination of heavy bank holiday loads, large volumes of the cardboard, increased garden waste, vehicle breakdowns and traffic congestion.
