A303 Southfields roundabout to A356 for Crewkerne – overnight closures for road resurfacing works
Monday 24 April to Friday 28 April 2023
National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. This email is to let you know we will shortly be carrying out essential resurfacing works on the A303 from Southfields roundabout, to the A356 for Crewkerne.
The work will start on the evening of Monday 24 April and finish on the morning of Friday 28 April and will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
To minimise disruption, we’ll work on weeknights only when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the road open as usual.
The work is currently programmed as follows:
- Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 April – full overnight closure of the A303 between Southfields roundabout and the A356 junction for Crewkerne, including A356 Prophets Lane WB entry slip and South Petherton roundabout. For 2 nights from 8pm until 6am the following morning.
- Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 April – overnight closure of the A303 westbound carriageway between the A356 junction for Crewkerne and Southfields Roundabout, for 2 nights from 8pm until 6am the following morning.
Westbound light good vehicles will be diverted on the A303 eastbound, to join the A372 at Podimore roundabout. At Langport, take the A378 and continue onto the A358 towards Ilminster to re-join the A303. Eastbound light good vehicles will take the same diversion in reverse during the full closures.
Westbound heavy good vehicles will continue on the A372 past Langport, joining the A361 towards Taunton. Continue to join the A38, following signs for the M5. At Blackbrook roundabout, join the A358 towards Ilminster and continue to re-join the A303. Eastbound heavy good vehicles will take the same diversion in reverse during the full closures.
All diversion route’s will be fully signed during the overnight closures, but please allow extra time for your journey.
We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. Please monitor www.trafficengland.com to keep updated.
