Somerset Waste Partnership Collections update: Friday 19 August

Collections update: Friday 19 August

Vehicle problems and staff sickness, including Covid, continue to delay some collections. We again apologise for the inconvenience.

Crews will be working tomorrow (Saturday) to catch up on collections missed today in parts of South Somerset. The aim is to be ‘all square/up to date’ at the start of next week.

Collections missed today (Friday 19 August) should be returned for tomorrow (Saturday 20 August). Areas affected today:

South Somerset: in and around parts of Wincanton (incl. Mill St, North St, Market Pl, Waterside Rd), Charlton Musgrove (incl. Barrow Ln, Rectory Ln), Dowlish Ford, Ilminster (incl. Ditton St, East St, Listers Hill, Orchard Vale, Wharf Ln, Adams Meadow, Canal Way, Carnival Cl, Ladymeade, Lower Meadow, Swanmead Dr, Forge Cl, Home Farm Way, New Rd, Station Rd, Summerlands Park Ave, Winterhay Ln), Henstrdige, and Milborne Port (incl. Cold Harbour, High St, Lion Dr, North St, The Meads, Wheathill Way).

Crews returning today (Friday 19 August) for recycling collections missed yesterday (Thursday 18 August) in and around parts of:

South Somerset: Huish Episcopi (incl. Newtown, Somerton Rd), Langport (incl. Bow St, Eastover, North St, The Hill), Martock (incl. Ashfield Pk, Beech Rd, Birch Rd, Moorlands Pk, North St, Steppes Crescent, Steppes Meadow, Vincent Way) and Langport.

Somerset West and Taunton: Norton Fitzwarren (incl. Apple Tree Cl, Blackdown View, Chapples Cl, Hilly Pk, Jeffords Cl, Rectory Rd, Yarlington Cl).

Rubbish, garden waste, clinical and bulky waste collections NOT seriously affected. Missed elsewhere? Report this as usual after 7pm on due day via My Waste Services at somersetwaste.gov.uk (postcode gap AB12 3CD; click to “submit”). This and any further details will be posted here: somersetwaste.gov.uk/update22

Lots of recycle materials to go? Flatten/tear up card; rinse, stack and quash plastic pots, tubs, trays; rinse, quash and put tops back on plastic bottles; rinse, quash and put tops back on cartons/Tetra Paks; rinse and – if safe – crush tins and cans; rinse and scrunch foil. Stack boxes, lighter below, then Bright Blue Bag, heavier above, locked food bin on top.

Extra materials can be carefully sorted into separate bags (not black sacks) beside recycle containers, or stored to put out over time. If materials cannot be stored or present a health or fire risk, recycle sites – on usual schedules:  somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling/centres – can take kerbside materials for recycling. Exception: food waste, which should be double bagged and put in your rubbish or added to the energy-from-waste skip at any recycle site.

Recycling checklist: somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling-collections. Need more recycle containers? Order any you need free via My Waste Services at somersetwaste.gov.uk.
